Assistant IT Manager, Applications Development

The Job

This role is to assist in managing Life Systems development/enhancement projects including Life Asia, and Capsil.  Managing activities within sub-team and project monitoring.  Regular progress reporting and coaching subordinates.

The Job

  • Responsible for managing small to medium scale projects throughout its life cycle including feasibility study, user expectation management, and change management
  • Propose on system development strategy and planning
  • Evaluate and recommend new IT products and services
  • Establishing design standard and lead system development
  • Develop best practices adhere to system development standards
  • Oversees project execution, measuring/identify potential risk and recommends risk mitigation wherever appropriate
  • Deliver system modification/enhancement within budget and time frame
  • IT staff coaching and mentoring
  • Assist direct supervisor on executing IT initiatives & strategies

The Person

  • University degree in Computer Science or equivalent, minimum 8 years working experience in Information Technology
  • Solid experience in enterprise-scale application development
  • Strong technical knowledge in AS/400, Life Asia or Capsil
  • Good technical  knowledge in .NET or J2EE, middle ware connectivity and client-server technologies
  • Sound knowledge in project management and essential with certification in project management such as PMP
  • Strong knowledge in Life Asia, and Capsil
  • Strong skill in both verbal and written communication
  • Previous experience in implementing enterprise-scale IT system for Life Insurance
  • Good knowledge in Life Insurance products and workflow
  • Previous experience in managing a small team
