Snow Suen Spreads Happiness by Distributing Bananas in Causeway Bay

FWD Hong Kong recently launched a series of ground-breaking new insurance plans and services. Today, Paul Tse, Chief Marketing Officer of FWD Hong Kong and Macau, led the team along with popular celebrity mom Snow Suen in promoting an upcoming innovative critical illness & mental health protection plan by staging a flash mob in Causeway Bay. Free bananas were distributed to passers-by to encourage everyone to have a positive attitude towards life and to take care of both physical and mental health.

As the Chinese New Year approaches, Hong Kong people tend to experience a surge in emotional stress due to financial worries, career uncertainty, nuptial pressure and more. Celebrity mom Snow Suen shared her year-end stress, “In preparation for my first Chinese New Year as a mom, I have been busy shopping for festive goods, getting new clothes for my boy and readying red packets. These all add to a sense of financial pressure. Since I became a mom, I have come to understand how parents would be particularly concerned about their children’s future development, including the pace of their growth and emotional issues. Sometimes, I even feel stressed when my son kept crying.” 

Snow added, “My son Riley recently passed the six-month stage and started eating solid food. I have been reading up on nutrition and learned that bananas are rich in tryptophan and vitamin B6, which can promote the brain’s release of serotonin – one of the so-called ‘happy hormones’ that helps in regulating our moods. Therefore, treating someone with a banana can be a way of expressing our care for them.” 

Paul Tse, Chief Marketing Officer of FWD Hong Kong and Macau, said at today’s flash mob event, “Hong Kong people work for over 50 hours per week on the average1. We should not underestimate the stress that wage earners are all under. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimated that by 2020, depression will become the world’s second leading cause of disability, just after cardiovascular disease2. Concerned about the mental health of all Hong Kong people, FWD will soon launch a new critical illness & mental health protection plan, which offers coverage for both physical and mental illnesses.”

Today, the FWD team distributed free bananas in a number of business areas, including Causeway Bay, Central, and Taikoo to cheer up Hong Kong people and raise public awareness on the importance of both physical and mental health.
