February 2015

DIY headpiece means more

Following on the heels of the Facebook game “Get Your Hat Look”, we further brought the creative headpieces from virtual to reality through a DIY Millinery Workshop, an event especially held for the autistic service adult users of Hong Chi Association.

Instructed by Jay, Hong Kong’s first milliner, participants poured their creative juices and designed their own unique headpieces during the workshop. Moreover, the event also created an inclusive and friendly atmosphere for the 15 Hong Chi Association trainees, who were joined by FWD staff and their friends who acted as volunteers.

Participants enjoyed the fun-filled afternoon making their own headpieces, as well as sharing their ideas and offering a helping hand to each other. In just a few hours, all participants managed to complete their headpieces and Jay was truly impressed with the creativity demonstrated. Participants not only took home a unique headpiece, but also a deeper understanding of autistic people.
